The Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Art celebrates the first annual juried exhibition, “Spring Art Affair.” The exhibition features 38 works of art by local and regional artists.

The art selected for this exhibition was chosen from nearly 100 entries in six categories; painting, watercolor, drawing, sculpture, mixed-media and photography.

The Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Art organized the Spring Art Affair competition, which was juried by Elizabeth Herridge, an independent curator, art advisor and museum consultant. The former Managing Director of the Guggenheim Hermitage Museum in Las Vegas, she graduated from Wellesley College with a Bachelor’s degree in French, and she has a Master’s in Connoisseurship and the Art and Auction Market from Christie’s Education in New York.

Among the winners was “Best of Show” awarded to a Mixed Media work by Erik Gonzalez. First Prize winners included Andrew Myers – Sculpture, Atsuko Parke – Photography, Ragen Mendenhall – Drawing, Mark Jenkins – Painting, Margaret Westcamp – Watercolor, and Eric Gonzales – Mixed-Media.

The exhibition is located in the Art Center Gallery adjacent to the Museum and open to the public from Noon to 6 pm, Wednesday through Sunday, through June 10th 2009. The Museum is on the second level of the Neonopolis building, which has two levels of underground parking, and is located between Las Vegas Blvd, and 4th St. at Ogden in downtown Las Vegas.The parking entrance is on 4th St.
