Founded in 2002, the Metropolitan Gallery Art Museum is a non-profit 501c3 organization which moved downtown to the Neonopolis in 2008. It presently features over 20,000 square feet of exhibit area, with a main gallery, a special exhibitions gallery, and a small works gallery. The Metropolitan Gallery and Art Museum (formerly The Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Art) provides exhibit space for local, regional and International artists to display their current work.
The Metropolitan Gallery Art Museum (MGAM) deems itself a showcase museum dedicated to raising awareness for a range of fine art, providing an opportunity to appreciate a variety of art for the local community and visitors to Las Vegas. The Museum strives to distinguish itself as exceptional by providing intellectual excellence and leadership with respect to the visual arts. Their goal is to promote an understanding and appreciation of art by making accessible to the public fine art exhibitions, educational programs, and cultural events designed to enhance the quality of life for the community.
The Art Museum is a non-profit organization that depends upon admission fees, membership dues and donations.
The Museum has no endowment or corporate sponsors, although either would be greatly appreciated. Expenses incurred in operating the Museum year round are significant and they welcome all donations no matter how small.
